I bought this Kindle book because it was listed as book 1 in a series. Jasper T. Scott, who I like, wrote book 3 but this book and book 2 were written by Cliff Ball. I was highly disappointed reading this book. The main story line could have been highly intriguing if written by a talented author which Mr. Ball is definitely not. The writing and story line in this book was horrendous. The conversations were juvenile and completely unbelievable. Everyone was nice and if presented with an option would immediately agree. This story isn't a comedy but I laughed out loud quite a few times at the silly dialogue. It read like it had been written by a teenager as a book to be read by 10 year old children. The writer seemed to gather a collection of events and rumors from the 60's to the 90's and then include them with very little thought on how they were applicable to each other or to the story line. There is very little science in this science fiction story and no reason to recommend buying or reading it.

I enjoyed reading New Frontier since it was an easy read and easy to follow. There is no real character development. There are some rather intriguing parts. The ending definitely makes you want to read what is coming up next. I also liked the prologue. It was the most interesting prologue I have ever read.
Honestly, I have seen better writing from high school children. The book has little or no character development and juvenile plots.
Not at all factual. Very little actual science involved in the story line. Great plot could have been immensely better.
This reads like a talented 5th grader with an interest in political history and star trek decided to write a serious alternate history. This starts in the 1960's and has interstellar ion drive by the 90's because of how Marilyn Monroe died. Illogical leaps of cause and effect render this a waste of time. If it was a fun read, I could allow for some dumb stuff, but it's not even mildly interesting. The story has near zero character development.
I do not like writing negative reviews but as this has a 4 star rating(only one review), I felt I should warn others as I would have wished others had warned me.
I think this may be the most thought provoking SyFi read in quite some time. The story lines make light speed jumps indifferent directions without losing continuity...A very good read.....ER
